By: Casey Tinney; Edited by Alysia Williams

In Fall 2020, Temple University’s College of Education and Human Development, in collaboration with Lenfest North Philadelphia Workforce Initiative (LNPWI), launched an exciting, new initiative: E³ provided by Temple University. This program is managed by Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) and provides Education, Employment and Empowerment services for youth and young adults (16 to 24) who are out-of-school, out-of-work &/or have court system history.

Through opportunities such as GED preparation courses, job training, paid work experiences and skill development, E³ provides support for students to obtain their GED/High School Equivalency, gain industry-recognized credentials in a job field such as Healthcare, take the next step to a college degree or employment &/or enhance progress towards achieving life goals in additional areas.

E³ provided by Temple University is currently accepting applications. Currently, all courses are offered online. Course/skills training examples include embarking on the pathway to being an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), engaging in HiSet/GED prep, exploring Information Technology (IT) and learning how to enter the job field of Electronic Health Records/Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (EHR/CMA). Participants will also be linked to various community resources and receive the support of a Career Counselor.

Anyone interested in signing up for E³ provided by Temple University should follow the link: and fill out the application with the referral code E109. Questions should be directed to Alysia Williams (215-204-3199, We also encourage you to visit our E³ website (
